Chat Pile | The Flenser
Cool World is the second studio album by American rock band Chat Pile. A continuation of their 2022 debut album God's Country, frontman Raygun Busch said the album focuses on "disasters abroad, at home" as well as their impact. Cool World borrows its title from the film of the same name, setting the tone for an "unsettling atmosphere" with an horizon widened to depict a "decaying planet". Addressing the state of the world in 2024, it’s aggressive, intense and grimy. Disturbing, hypnotic and honest, Chat Pile’s energy is unrivalled.

Touché Amoré | Rise Records
American post-hardcore band Touché Amoré don’t hold back on Spiral In a Straight Line, their sixth studio album. Lead vocalist Jeremy Bolm says this is a “record about forward movement while everything around you becomes destabilised.” With features from Lou Barlow and Julien Baker, the record moves at a ferocious pace, with strong hooks, well-layered guitar work and explosive lyrics. Vulnerable and authentic, Spiral In a Straight Line is complex and provides plenty of substance. Touché Amoré have once again set the bar incredibly high.

Porridge Radio | Secretly Canadian
British indie rockers Porridge Radio present Clouds in the Sky They Will Always Be There for Me. Formed a decade ago, the Brighton band’s fourth album is poetic and brutal, inspired by music industry burnout and the collapse of a relationship for lead singer Dana Margolin. Dana reflects on the album with the enthusiasm of a real creative breakthrough, saying “it captured something about our friendship as a band and the way that we have learnt to play together. I love the songs, I love playing them, they haven’t gotten old to me and it feels like it’s a very singular thing.”
