Stereo Mind Game

Daughter | 4AD

On their most optimistic record yet, English indie folk band Daughter return with Stereo Mind Game. With their first studio album in seven years, the trio are joined by London-based string orchestra, 12 Ensemble, who bring warmth and balance. Whilst it doesn’t reinvent the wheel, Daughter’s stellar third album features strong lyrical content, flair and flows wonderfully well.

72 Seasons

Metallica | EMI

American heavy metal band Metallica return to form on their soaring eleventh studio album. Hetfield's vocals are as strong as ever, with each member in excellent musical form on 72 Seasons, which feels far more creative than the bands last few releases. Expressive, authentic and raw, with some incredible harmonies, it’s a record that will certainly grow on you.

Multitudes

Feist | Universal Music Division Polydor

Six years since the release of Leslie Feist’s last album, Pleasure, the Canadian indie pop singer-songwriter introduces the more refined Multitudes. On her sixth studio album, she grapples with memories, contemplating her mortality and although its her quietest album to date, it’s comforting, ambitious and unpredictable. Multitudes is a career highlight.

A River Running to Your Heart

Fruit Bats | Merge Records

American rockers Fruit Bats introduce A River Running to Your Heart, their tenth studio album. With simple guitar riffs, bass and keys that strike a calm and tranquil tone, songwriter Eric D. Johnson is also self-producing for the first time, allowing him a new level of control. This latest offering tugs at the heart strings and is a pitch-perfect blend of tone, lyricism and hope.

catharsis

Covet | Triple Crown Records

Math rock band Covet introduce their third studio album, catharsis. The San Francisco trio fronted by Yvette Young, step out of their comfort zone, as their latest album transports you to a fantasy realm in a chaotic universe. With lead guitar lines and crashing drums, the band lean more towards a grunge sound and though its only eight tracks long, it’s full of quality.
